FosterCareHelpfulorHarmful (1)

  1. My intended audience was everyone who can make a difference. People that are interested in the outcomes of foster care are also my intended targets. I believe children going into foster care would want to know this information as well, so they are more prepared and have a number to call if they ever need help. My main rhetorical strategies are logos and inductive reasoning, which are clear to come to the understanding that there are problems in the foster care system. Overall, I think my intended audience is clear, and my rhetoric strategies were helpful in conveying the overall message.
  2. Three aspects I need help with are: how do I show the whole page (it looks cut off from the bottom), how do you transfer other pictures from the web on there (i tried everything and could not do it, even after I downloaded it), and is theĀ piktochart easier than easle?

The bottom does look cut off. If you’re using Easel.ly, you could try a few things: 1) you could change the orientation from landscape to portrait, 2) you could scroll down to the right bottom corner and hover the mouse until it allows you to resize, then pull until it’s big enough. If you’re using Piktochart, I’m not sure I can help. Either way, there should be a FAQ section or a HELP feature. Let me know if you can’t get it right (text me on the number found on the second page of our Syllabus).

On Easel.ly, to add outside pictures, you have to save the outside picture first. Then you should be able to upload it. While working on your graphic, one of the buttons along the top says UPLOAD. Click that and a black bar will appear with a green button that says “Add files.” When you click that, it will open the window to allow you to select the file. Choose the graphic, click “open,” and it should appear on your Infographic. You should then be able to manipulate it (resize, etc).

I’ve only ever made one Infographic but I used Easel.ly because it allowed me to do things Piktochart didn’t (specifically make a wider graphic–landscape).

And don’t forget to note sources with footnotes (I sent out directions this morning in an announcement). Of course, you will need to be able to see the bottom to get this exactly right.

Again, let me know by texting me if you need more help since your partner did not review your graphic.

For the foot notes I thought you wrote to us that we could link it instead?

You can. If you choose to only link, you still need to have an official Works Cited page but you can attach it to the Reflection on the Infographic instead. Hope that helps!

I’m not sure which email you’re referring to, but you did turn your graphic in on time. And I graded it this morning so you should be able to see the grade on Blackboard.

Dear Amanda, are congratulations in order? One can never be sure how to react to news like that.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been sick. I had my first daughter while I was still earning my Associate’s degree, my second in between my Bachelor’s and my Master’s. It’s not easy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to lighten your burden or ease your worry about classwork.

Oh GOOD! I LOVE children. They’re such a blessing. You’re in for a challenge but there’s no reason to let it stop you from achieving your dreams. It took me longer to do, but I went all the way to a Master’s degree. If the pregnancy isn’t covered by your student insurance, you can apply for a special subset of Medicaid for pregnancies. It will cover all the medical bills and the birth, as well as 6 weeks of follow-up care. There’s also an amazing resource here in Moscow called Palouse Care Network (http://www.palousecarenetwork.com/). They help with unexpected pregnancies. I just donated a bunch of handmade knitted hats there, lol. Sorry, I’m rambling!

Deadlines for everyone will become less rigid as the work speeds up toward our last few assignments. So don’t worry too much but also don’t fall too far behind.

If your partner fails to post their blog, you will still get the points for the assignment; it’s not your fault! But since the point is to help someone with their assignment, you could look at other students’ blogs and comment on one at random.

I hope every thing goes as planned with your move, i have been there and done that and wish you the best! I know how stressful it is to have to move and hope that the paperwork goes through so you have a place to live so I hope I do not have to bug you with questions all the time lol. Good luck;)
